Submissions Statement

  • We’re looking for experimental, possibly genre bending, pieces. The work you think is too strange to submit to more traditional magazines.

  • At Misophist we are interested and determined to support the up-and-comer, the developing writer, the creative and the new. We prioritize those who are finding a place for their strong and strange voices.

Guidelines:

  • Word Limit 6,000 words or 10 pages.

  • Submit in manuscript format, PDF DOC DOCX.

  • We accept Non-fiction, Poetry, Fiction, Plays of all shapes and sizes.

  • Decisions regarding acceptance of your entry will be sent out after the submission window has closed.

Submissions Policy:

  • Single submissions per writer is encouraged

  • For poets, if submitting multiple poems, please do include them all in the same document. Note that all of them may not be accepted, but you are more than welcome to submit multiple poems.

For Artwork:

  • We’re accepting cover submissions or an up to three page long comic.

  • Cleveland has a long history of amazing comic book creators. Our library has one of, if not, the biggest collection of comic books in the country, so we are not looking for specific topic or style here at Misophist but to continue Cleveland’s longstanding comic book legacy.

AI Policy:

  • Absolutely zero tolerance for any AI usage, if it is discovered that AI was used for your piece, it will be discarded.

  • Users of AI shall be added to the Misophist wall of shame
